Veterans Day ceremony Nov. 11 at Seaford Kiwanis Park

SEAFORD –  The Seaford Veterans Day ceremony will be held Saturday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial at Kiwanis Park at Stein Highway and Atlanta Road.

The annual event is sponsored by the Seaford Veterans Committee.

The scheduled guest speaker is Commander Donald H. Petitmermet, United States Navy, retired. Commander Petitmermet is a Southwest Asia veteran and was a FH-3 (Sea Knight) helicopter pilot.

A salute and recognition will be paid to all military personnel past and present, as well as any Gold Star Mothers in attendance.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the auditorium of the Seaford High School on North Market Street in 11 a.m.

On behalf of the Seaford Veterans Committee, which consists of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4961, American Legion Posts 6 and 37, AMVETS Post 1694, Marine Corps League Detachment 780 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 9, co-chairmen Joe Tune and Pete Bohn extend an invitation to the public to attend this event as the community honors the service and sacrifices of all veterans who have or are serving this Country.

Following the ceremony at 1 p.m. American Legion Post 6 (Log Cabin) on Front Street and VFW Post 4961 on Middleford Road will hold open houses.

Open houses, which include lunch, are free and open to the public.
