Participation sought with Return Day fast approaching

Debra Jones, president of the Sussex County Return Day Committee, waves as she rides in the 2016 Return Day Parade.

The Sussex County Return Day Committee has been hard at work preparing for this year’s event.

We are now asking for your participation.

Do you belong to a civic or fraternal organization?  A church, school, fire department, or other local group?

Maybe you are in a car club, equestrian group, in sports.

If you are, we are looking for parade entries. These entries can be floats, marching units, bands, or even a motorized grouping.  All are welcome.

We are also looking for vendors. We currently still have openings for concessions, Informational booths, arts and crafts booths, antiques and collectibles booths, and entertainment booths.

Call the office for a form or to inquire on vendor space size and costs.

Our community support project. Each year the president of Return Day appoints a Youth Ambassador.  This year our ambassador is Wyatt Warner.  His project of Community Service is to gather needed items for the Joshua House Ministries for the homeless.

Please support this worthwhile project by donating much needed items such as; personal hygiene items, socks, gloves, bottled water, laundry detergent, tick repellant, and food items such as pop-tarts, pop-top cans of soup, cheese or peanut butter crackers and other easy open non-perishable items.

We can also accept your gently used sweatshirts and coats.  Items for this project can be dropped off at the Marvel Carriage Museum.

And don’t forget, we can always use volunteers!

For more information or to get parade entry forms or vendor forms, please call the Sussex County Return Day office at 855-0722.
