Maintenance of railroads will require road closures in Georgetown, Laurel

GEORGETOWN – Delaware’s Department of Transportation is alerting to motorists that Delmarva Central Railroad Company will be replacing, repaving, and performing general maintenance on their railroad crossings in Sussex County.

Message boards will be posted in advance of the closure and detour routes will also be posted.

The following railroad crossings will be closed:

  • Zoar Road closed between Woods Branch Road and Cedar Lane, Georgetown, 5 a.m. Monday, April 16 until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, April 18.

Detour Routes: eastbound, Zoar Road onto Woods Branch Road to Sussex Pines Road to Cedar Lane and return to Zoar Road; and westbound, Zoar Road to Cedar Lane to Sussex Pines Road onto Woods Branch Road and back to Zoar Road:

  • Saint George Road closed between Dickerson Road and Bi-State Boulevard, Laurel, 5 a.m. Wednesday, April 18 until 11:59 p.m. on Friday, April 20.

Detour Routes: Saint George Road to Bacons Road onto Bi-State Boulevard and return to Saint George Road; Saint George Road to Bi-State Boulevard to Bacons Road and back to Saint George Road.

The road closures are scheduled to begin on these dates but could be delayed due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
