Intermittent lane, shoulder closures on Patriots Way near SCHS

GEORGETOWN – Delaware’s Department of Transportation (DelDOT) has issued a motorist advisory for road closures associated with construction on Patriots Way near the entrance to Sussex Central High School.

Contractor A-Del Construction Company will begin construction beginning Friday, April 11.

Daytime lane and shoulder closures or lane shifts will occur from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m., Monday through Friday in the vicinity of Patriots Way, Avenue of Honor to Zoar Road.

The proposed improved section of Patriots Way will consist of pavement resurfacing of the two 11-foot travel lanes, the addition of two five- to six-foot paved shoulders, and drainage.

The work is anticipated to be complete within 131 calendar days, pending weather.

Additionally, the project includes turn lanes at the entrance of Sussex Central High School and shoulders along Patriots Way.

Motorists are advised to use caution and reduce speed in work zones.
