Events, ceremonies planned in observance of Memorial Day


Here are capsule informational nuggets on Memorial Day events in Downstate Delaware:


Georgetown, 1:30 p.m. on The Circle. Attendees are encouraged to bring comfortable seating.


Bethany Beach, 11 a.m. The Town of Bethany Beach and officers and members of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7234, will host a Memorial Day service at the Bethany Beach boardwalk bandstand.

Laurel, 11 a.m. at the Laurel American Legion Post 19, 12168 Laurel Road, just east of U.S. 13.

Lewes, 11 a.m. Lewes American Legion service begins at the post pavilion, 113 American Legion Rd. Lewes (Off Rt. 9)

Long Neck, 11 a.m. Dolby AMVETS Post 2, 32592 Long Neck Rd., Millsboro.

Milford, 10 a.m. at the Milford Senior Center on Park Avenue, featuring the Milford Community Band, a keynote speaker and a wreath-laying program.

Seaford, 11 a.m. at the Veterans’ Memorial in Kiwanis Park, Stein Highway/Atlanta Road. (In case of inclement weather, ceremony will be held in Seaford High School)
