Two council seats on election ballot in Selbyville

SELBYVILLE – Two town council seats are up for election in Selbyville’s 2016 election.

Council terms presently held by Richard Duncan Sr. and Jay Murray both expire this year.

The election, if needed, will be held Saturday, March 5. Voting is slated for 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Selbyville Town Hall, located at 68 West Church Street.

Deadlines for candidate registration and voter registration are Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 4:30 p.m.

Council terms are for two years.

Anyone qualified to file as a candidate for the election must file a written Notice of Candidacy with the Town Hall by no later than 4:30 p.m. on Feb. 10. Candidate forms are available at the Selbyville Town Hall.

Per town charter, candidates must be at least 21 years of age; a U.S. citizen; and have been a bona fide resident of the town for a period of at least one year prior to the date of the election, and they must be a registered voter with the town.

Voters for the town election must be registered at town hall. Eligible voters must be at least eighteen years of age; a U.S. citizen; and be a bona fide resident of the town.
