Millsboro police officers honored with ceremonial salute

MILLSBORO – Dedication and commitment to public safety exhibited by officers in the Millsboro Police Department received a ceremonial salute Tuesday.

During the July 18 awards ceremony, the Millsboro Town Manager Sheldon Hudson and Millsboro Mayor John Thoroughgood spoke to the members of the department and their families, expressing how proud there are with the work these men and women provide within for community.

At this award ceremony Raymond (Ray) Burton was presented with the Chief’s Citation for his leadership through the Delaware Fire Police and their assistance with traffic control at many of the community events hosted by the town of Millsboro.

Patrolman Michael Gorman was presented with the Chief’s Commendation for his dedication to traffic safety. PFC Jonathan Zubrowski was presented the Chief’s Commendation for his dedication to the Delaware Special Olympics. PFC Zubrowski was also presented with a Life Saving Award for his life saving efforts during an overdose.

Sgt. Barry Wheatley received the Exceptional Performance Award for his work and assistance with organizing the 2017 Sussex County Special Olympics Torch Run.

Cpl. David Moyer was presented with the Millsboro Police Department’s Officer of the Year Award.

Chief Brian K. Calloway stated it was “my honor to present these awards to these officers at this ceremony. Police Officers are not frequently given praise for their hard work and dedication, and presenting these awards in front of these officers’ families, let them know their work is greatly appreciated in our community.”
