Gubernatorial candidate Lafferty mapping out Walk Across Sussex County

SUSSEX COUNTY – Gubernatorial candidate Lacey Lafferty last Thursday announced her plans for her “2016 Walk Across Sussex County”.

“Last April, along with the People of Delaware, I walked the entire 104-mile length of The First State: From Delmar to Talleyville, in 3½ days.  I was buoyed by the enthusiasm I encountered, and now, it’s time to do it again,” she said.

2016 gubernatorial candidate Lacey Lafferty of Laurel announced last week her plans for a Walk Across Sussex County in April.

“On Saturday, April 11th, I’ll start at the southwestern border of Delaware, west of Laurel and just east of Sharptown, Maryland, on Route 24, and continue eastbound on Route 9 to Georgetown,” said Ms. Lafferty.

“On Sunday morning, I’ll start at The Circle in Georgetown, proceed east on Route 9 and finish that evening at Lewes beach.  I’ll be looking forward to a swim in the Delaware Bay after that 2-day, 39-mile walk,” she said.

“On last year’s walk, I met so many Delawareans who voiced their concerns about the future of our state,” she continued. “I’m not a career politician, and the people of Delaware expressed their support for my efforts.  I am the first candidate, of either party, to file for governor in the 2016 election, and, as of April 12th, I’ll be the only known candidate in recent American history to walk the entire length and breadth of their state,” Ms. Lafferty said.

“I invite all Delawareans to Walk Across Sussex County with me, for a few yards, a few miles, or whatever distance their personal fitness level will allow.  We are ‘Going the Delaware Distance’ in 2016, with Patriotism, Principles and Prosperity to lead The First State into the future.  After all, WE OWN it!” she concluded.

Republican Lacey Lafferty, a direct descendant of Declaration of Independence signer John Morton, and a 5th generation Delawarean, was born and raised in Lewes.  She is a retired Delaware State Trooper, published author, agribusiness owner, lifelong athlete and Standardbred racehorse breeder and trainer. She has one daughter and lives in Laurel.
