Zoar UMC homecoming

MILLSBORO — Zoar United Methodist Church, located at 24463 Gravel Hill Road in Millsboro, has services each Sunday at 10:15 a.m.  Sunday School is held at 9 a.m. for all ages.

On Oct. 23 at 2:30 p.m. Zoar UMC will celebrate its homecoming.  Zoar began more than 200 years ago with home meetings, then growing into a crossroads church.  The church, where worship is held each week, was built more than 100 years ago after the original structures burned.  Many of the families are descendants of those members who rose the church again from the ashes.

The speaker will be Rev. Jim Vanderwall, retired United Methodist minister.

Music will be provided by Brother to Brother. After the worship, there will be a fellowship dinner in the church hall.  This is a pot luck dinner. Chicken will be provided by the church.

For more information on the homecoming, contact Mary Catherine at 934-7007.

There are groups for youth, men and women that meet regularly, plus a group that performs nursing home ministry.

The theme of the celebration is taken from the well-known hymn, “O God Our Help in Ages Past,” looks at both the congregation’s past years of ministry and the congregation’s vision for the future.
