Preliminary plans approved for Ashley HomeStore in Millsboro

MILLSBORO – Initial plans have been unveiled and approved for a new Ashley HomeStore in Millsboro.

Town council on April 2 approved preliminary plans presented by Alan Decktor, staff engineer with Pennoni Associates, for the 20,000-plus square-foot complex on Dickerson Road.

It will be located just south of the Peninsula Regional Medical Center’s Delmarva Health Pavilion. The 1.9-acre property, which butts the south end of the Peninsula Crossing Shopping Center, was annexed into the town of Millsboro in March by council following a public annexation hearing.

The annexation request was on behalf of Erin Bradly Enterprises LLC. The new store will join Barnes Furniture Campus family business that includes Ashley HomeStore and FurnitureLand in Delmar, Delaware.

Following Mr. Decktor’s presentation and brief discussion on easement and access/inter-connectivity issues, town council cast unanimous approval for the plans.

Building design will feature wood paneling, large-scale windows and canopies.

Several variance requests are planned.

“In the package we submitted to the town about a week and a half ago, we did indicate some variances that we will be filing soon: parking counts, signage and a couple other areas that we have discussed with the town manager and personnel in the last month or two,” Mr. Decktor said.

Final site plans must be brought back before town council.
