Tree-lighting events this Saturday in Frankford, Dagsboro

SUSSEX COUNTY – The holiday season gets a bright kickoff this Saturday, Nov 25 with tree-lighting celebrations in neighboring south-central Sussex County towns.

Indian River High School’s Baroque Ensemble members Kathleen Carter, Nate Bishop, David Vickers and Dahria Kalmbach perform at Dagsboro’s 2016 tree-lighting event..

Frankford’s 3rd Annual Christmas in the Park runs from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the town park on Main Street.

The event, presented by the Envision Frankford community coalition, will feature the ceremonial lighting of the town’s new 20-foot artificial tree at 6:30 p.m.

There will be caroling and a special appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus.

The public is invited. Admission is free and there will be free hot chocolate and cookies.

Santa Claus gets a wish list from a youngster at Frankford’s 2016 Christmas in the Park.

Weekly celebrations at the park will continue as children can visit Santa and Mrs. Claus in the Santa House Wednesday evenings – Nov. 29, Dec. 6, Dec. 13 and Dec. 20 – from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Again, there will be free hot chocolate.

Dagsboro’s tree-lighting program will run from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Katie Helm Park.

There will be music, songs and caroling.

Santa Claus is scheduled to make an appearance and word from the North Pole is St. Nick may arrive via police escort.
