Hollywood Hits the Shore Fashion Expo June 6 in Millsboro

MILLSBORO – Models and clothing designers showcasing some of the hottest fashions will take center-stage Saturday, June 6 at the Millsboro Town Center.

Millsboro residents Jamaal and Mamie Bivens – a husband/wife production tandem – are bringing the Hollywood Hits the Shore Fashion Expo through their MJ Productions.

The event will feature models – male and female of all ages, including children – from the Mid-Atlantic region.

Models are coming from Philadelphia, Baltimore, Virginia and all over the shore, Mr. Bivens said.

In addition, some fashion designers will also be on hand with models to get their brand and their clothing line out.

“We really make them feel like they are in Hollywood. We do the red carpet. We do the stage. We do the lights. We do it all,” said Ms. Bivens.  “It’s really big.”

The catered event already is a near sellout, with only about 20 of the approximate 275 available tickets left, Ms. Bivens said. Tickets are $30 each.

The Millsboro Town Center doors open at 5 p.m. with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres and appetizers. Showtime starts at 6 p.m.

The fashion expo came about through MJ Productions’ connections with people in the modeling industry and various pageants in the area.

“What we decided to do was just come together and pull different models from the community that are interested in being an inspiring model … and bring them together and do something positive,” Ms. Bivens said.

MJ Productions has been in existence for 10-plus years, providing inspirational plays, fashion expos, cafes and even basketball tournaments, Ms. Bivens said.

Previous MJ Production events have featured special guests and judges, including Bill Yoast, the legendary coach featured in the movie “Remember The Titans,” and Krista Clausen, Miss Delaware USA 2012.

“Anything with a positive twist to rally or bring the community together,” said Mr. Bivens. “Together, we try to congregate, communicate and cultivate the community around us.”
