Georgetown’s “A Holly Jolly Christmas Parade” set to step off tonight

Santa Claus is scheduled to be a featured attraction at tonight’s “A Holly Jolly Christmas Parade” in Georgetown, presented by the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce.

GEORGETOWN – There’s no chance of rain but it could be a bit windy with a little chill in the air.

That’s the forecast for tonight’s Georgetown Christmas Parade.

From a firefighter’s boot, a member of the Indian River Volunteer Fire Company parade entry hands out candy to kids during the 2014 Georgetown Christmas Parade.

Presented by the Greater Georgetown Chamber of Commerce, the parade will step off at 7 p.m. to “A Holly Jolly Christmas” theme.

Floats, marching bands, clubs, cars and trucks and other official entries will be judged in their respective categories, with a chance to win a ribbon or an award.

All participants will be judged for “Best Theme” and overall “Best in Show.”

Formation of the parade is on West Pine Street in front of the Delaware National Guard Armory.

Line-up is no later than 6:30 p.m.

REMINDER: Throwing candy or any other items from a float or other vehicle in the parade is not allowed. Items may be passed out by walkers only.
