Several hundred people – young, old and in between – were on hand for the festivities, capped by a special visit by Santa, who was escorted to the park by the Dagsboro Police Department.

Ceremonies included musical performances from local musicians and free cookies and hot chocolate.

The event doubled as a collection campaign for donated food to help stock local food pantries and food banks.

After greeting the crowd, Santa posed with youngsters for photos and fielded their Christmas wish lists.

Vice-Mayor Brian Baull served as master of ceremonies for the ceremony.
