GEORGETOWN – In Times Square, the ball is lowered.

On The Circle in Georgetown the ball will be raised.

Following last year’s success, revelers are invited to join the Town of Georgetown in ringing in 2016 with a New Year’s Eve/New Year’s celebration.

The family-friendly “Raise the Ball” event will run from 9 p.m. Dec. 31, 2015 until 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2016.

The popular Dirt Road Outlawz band will provide music entertainment.

Food vendors offering a variety of eats and drink include Hotdogs & More, JD Shuckers Seafood Grill & Raw Bar, 16 Mile Brewery, Zogg’s Raw Bar & Grill, Delmarva Popcorn, Maxie’s Grill, Jakarta’s Indonesian Food and Backyard Louie’s BBQ.

Bonfires and a heated tent will provide warmth in the event of a New Year’s Eve chill.

Such was the case last year as hundreds of revelers braved freezing weather to celebrate and join the countdown to 2015. Just before midnight, a 5-foot by 5-foot ball with 1,200 lights was raised; when the clock struck 12 o’clock, two LED signs flashed “2015.”
